Copy of Our Story
I have observed the living standards in the community where I grew up in rural Kenya drop over the last two decades. Our friends' and neighbors' children are worse off than they were themselves. This is because our local economy is dependent on agriculture. Kenya's population has grown rapidly, and households are subdividing their small farmlands to support the next generation, which means less land is now available for agriculture compared to previous decades. They are barely able to provide for their families because they rely on subsistence farming that is no longer sustainable.
Miriam Bella was created in response to the persistent and increasing poverty in rural Kenya, offering hope to families for a sustainable income. We have a strong, socially responsible culture and we are passionate about inspiring the local community by introducing new skills and creating employment for families in need to alleviate their poverty. Having successfully trained over 15 employees as shoemakers, delicate beaders, and quality control staff, we have made a significant impact.
We have connected with our African culture and fused the gorgeous, quality beads with genuine leather shoes to handcraft beautiful, striking, and durable footwear. Our facility is located in rural Kenya, and our variety of shoes are made with 100% leather, quality beads, and African cotton fabric, all sourced locally. Each shoe is hand-beaded and handcrafted by members of our community.
Miriam Bella is proud to design and handcraft shoes for you.
We hope that when you wear our shoes, the colorful beads and fabrics brighten your day.
