Handcrafted by women artisans in our workshop in Kenya, in small batches, using leather chosen for how it wears over time. Both flat, both made from genuine leather that softens with every wear.

WHY WE USE GENUINE LEATHER, NOT SYNTHETIC

  • Genuine leather (what we use):

    • Breathes, so it stays comfortable against your skin in warm weather, unlike synthetic materials that can trap heat
    • Softens and moulds to your foot the more you wear it, with no stiff break-in period
    • Ages with character, developing a natural patina rather than cracking or peeling
    • Comes from a natural material, not a plastic-based coating

  • Synthetic leather (what we avoid):

    • Usually a plastic coating over a fabric backing, so it's stiffer and less breathable
    • Doesn't soften or age the same way. It tends to crack or peel rather than improve with wear
    • Often cheaper upfront, but rarely lasts as many years of daily wear

How to Choose Your Leather Sandals for Women

1. Choose your style

  • Ankle Strap (Ochre, Black, Marigold): a single band across the top of the foot, closed with an adjustable strap around the ankle.
  • Cross Strap (Ochre, Black, Marigold): two straps crossing over the top of the foot, with no separate ankle closure.

2. Then choose your colour

  • Black: the most versatile, works with everything
  • Ochre: a warm, earthy everyday tone
  • Marigold: the boldest of the three, a statement colour

What are these leather sandals made from?

Cow leather uppers, a soft 100% sheep leather lining, and a full leather outsole. Handcrafted in Kenya.

What's the difference between the Ankle Strap and Cross Strap styles?

The Ankle Strap style has a single adjustable strap and buckle around the ankle for a secure, closed feel. The Cross Strap style has two straps crossing over the foot for a more open silhouette. Both come in Ochre, Black and Marigold.

How do I choose the right size?

These flats fit true to size, so start with your usual size. If you're between sizes, size down, since the leather softens and moulds to your foot with wear.

How do I order and what does delivery look like?

For US customers: Order online as usual. Shipping is free and tracked, dispatched within 1 business day, with US tariffs already included, so there's no import charge on delivery. Returns are accepted within 30 days.

For Kenya customers: Contact us via WhatsApp or call 0757 769 919. Your sandals are delivered so you can try them on first, and you only pay via M-Pesa once you're happy with the fit.

Can I return or exchange my sandals?

US orders can be returned within 30 days. For Kenya orders, since payment happens on delivery, simply hand them back to the delivery team if they don't fit; there's no charge unless you keep them.

How do I care for my leather sandals?

Brush off dust and dirt with a soft bristle brush, wipe stubborn marks with a damp cloth, and apply a leather conditioner occasionally to keep the leather supple. Store in a cool, dry place, ideally with shoe trees to help them hold their shape.

THE MAKING

  • What "handcrafted" actually means

    Each sandal passes through eight pairs of hands before it reaches yours.


    The leather is selected by eye, cut by hand against a pattern, and shaped around a last before the straps are stitched and each sole is pressed and finished.


    No factory floor. No conveyor belt. Just a workshop in rural Kenya, skilled women who take pride in their work, and a process that can't be rushed.

    3. Lasting & shaping: Upper shaped around a foot last

    4. Strap stitching: Each strap hand-stitched and edge-finished

    5. Sole pressing: Sole bonded and pressed under heat

    6. Quality control: Final check by Jepchumba before packing
